THE THYSSEN BORNEMISZA MUSEUM
A MUST-SEE for art lovers
Located in the old “Palacio de Villahermosa”, this museum houses almost 1,000 paintings collected by two generations of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family. They were acquired by the Spanish National Government in 1993.
From the old Italian and German masters to the 20th century painters, this tour will take you on a walk through the Art History: Jean Van Eyck, Albert Dürer, Caravaggio, Canaletto, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Degas…are only some of the painters you will find in this incredible picture gallery.
The permanent collection is displayed on three floors. We suggest a chronological tour, starting at the upper floor with the Old Masters, and ending with the Impressionism and Expressionism.
In this museum you can also enjoy the largest collection of American painters in Europe.
